The Holy Rosary Church takes Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary as patroness. The Queen is radiantly depicted in the rose window high on the western façade of the church and also in a stained-glass window on the south side of the nave.
In the sixth apparition of Mary at Fatima, Portugal on October 13, 1917, Our Lady requested that the Rosary be prayed and she revealed her identity as the Lady of the Rosary.
The Rosary is a traditional series of prayers that Roman Catholics trace its devotional origins to Saint Dominic in the 13th century. The recitation involves a series of gently repetitive prayers and invocations along with contemplation of the Mysteries of the Rosary. These Mysteries (Glorious, Joyful, Sorrowful and Luminous) summarize the key events in the life of Jesus and His mother Mary.
