Historic Angels — Immaculate Conception Church, Sacramento

On the arcade pillars near the back of the church are two statues of angels holding light stands.

These historic statues, now located on pillars on the opposite sides of the nave, were formerly located in niches on the northern wall on either side of the large Immaculate Conception stained-glass window behind the main altar.  The angels appear to have been repainted on the move to the nave during a 1993 update by Father James Sheets.  Both angels are dressed in white tunics with white wings decorated by gold lacing.  The angel on the left side of the nave is dressed in green, and the right in tan.  The multi-pronged, brass lamp holders show the vestiges of yesteryear still remain in the church today.
