Traditional Prayers, Litanies and Novenas

For readers ease of reference, contains a collection of sacred devotions to be used for many occasions.

Some of the devotions have been in use since the early days of the church in a nearly unaltered state. Others started in the early church, and have been modified over the years. There are even some which are relatively new, i.e. within the century.


> Traditional prayers: fundamental prayers used throughout the history of the church; learned and used by all Catholics

> Litanies: a ceremonial or liturgical form of prayer consisting of a series of invocations or supplications with responses that are the same for a number in succession

> Novena: a nine day period of private or public prayer to obtain special graces, to implore special favors, or make special petitions
